“Cover Your Chin for Charity 2018” Celebrates Five Years
The organizers of “Cover Your Chin for Charity 2018” announce the fifth year for their popular and effective charitable event that has raised tens of thousands of dollars for local charities. Event founders Adam Theeke, Joel Shilliday, and Andrew Southworth, started the event in 2013.
Adam Theeke, said that “if you are going to grow a beard competitively you might as well do it for a good cause.” He looks forward to beating last year’s fundraising record.
“Last year we raised well over $20,000 – the most we’ve raised in a single season,” Shilliday exclaimed. “We have increased our total earnings each year, and this year, our fifth anniversary, we hope to raise more than ever. We’d like to break our records for the number of participants, sponsors, and a number of funds we raise, to give away. We give all proceeds to our need-based charities.” Added Southworth.
This year the three local charities that will benefit from the funds raised are:
Care Packs of Talbot County
Mental Health Association of the Eastern Shore’s Veterans Assistance Fund http://www.mhamdes.org/veterans.html &
Tree of Life Pet Sanctuary
As always donations will also be accepted for the in-house emergency fund:
Nate Southworth Humanitarian Fund (named after founder Andrew Southworth’s Father and past winner of the best full beard award).
